MINERAL RESOURCES OF PAKISTAN

WHAT ARE MINERAL RESOURCES?

Such an organic,natural,solids,fossils and inorganic materials which are present in or out of the earth crust and are economically beneficial for a country or state are named as its mineral resources.
In most of the countries,the mineral resources are divided into three categories:

• MEASURED RESOURCES
• INFERRED RESOURCES
• INDICATED RESOURCES

Mineral resources play a vital role in making a country economically strong and rich.
Luckily our country PAKISTAN is rich in mineral resources but unfortunately due to poor management it couldnot do well in making the economy of the country as powerfull as other mineral riched countries.
Some major minerals of our country are:

• GOLD
• COPPER
• COAL
• SALT

GOLD:

Pakistan is considered as the worlds 5th largest deposit of GOLD.
GOLD is an important and precious mineral used in dentistry,medicine,jewelry and art. It has also many scientific uses like it is used in scientific and electronic instrument,as an electrolyte etc.
GOLD deposits are present in SOUTHWEST BALOCHISTAN, IN CHAGHI and BEKODIK AREA.

COPPER:

Pakistan is also 5th largest deposit of copper among the world.
COPPER is used in electric cables,wires,switches,plumbing,heating.
The leading producer of copper in the world is CHILE followed by U.S. In pakistan copper deposits are found in BALOCHISTAN.

COAL:

 It is one of the major source of energy. In U.S, coal provides 23% of  all the energy consumed. COAL has many varieties according to its consumption and uses. In pakistan there are large deposits of coal in BALOCHISTAN. In SINDH it is present at LAKHRA,THATHA,JHERRUK,THAR,HAJI COAL.

SALT:

In every country,70% of salt is used in food preparation,thus it is an important source.It is used in heavy industry, 40% used in chemical industry.It plays a vital role in economy. The major deposit of salt in PAKISTAN is KHEWRA. It is a big mine.Other producers of salt are WARCHA SALT MINE, KALABAGH SALT MINE.Production of salt in pakistan is increasing day by day.
